A little about me
Growing up, my artistic spirit was nourished by my family and my surroundings. Whether photographing everything I could or painting ocean animals on my bedroom wall, I was allowed to create art to my little heart's content. In college, I majored in biology and art and was greatly considering biological illustration as a career path. Those considerations changed when I moved to Florida after college and began working with oceanographic and not-for-profit conservation groups. Today, I have returned to Kentucky and I am lucky to have a part-time teaching job that lets me continue to play with both Art and Science while working on my graphic design projects as well.
My book designs are for authors self-publishing their own work, and I strive to make each book I design aesthetically pleasing. My first book design was in 2005, when I collaborated with the staff of the Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Foundation on A Natural Course, a book celebrating the Foundation's 35th anniversary. This was just the beginning of my book design passion and also the first time my nature photograph was published. My photography is still sans studio, preferring to photograph the natural world and the people and animals in it. Several books, a few awards, and lots of years later I still enjoy helping authors bring their dreams into reality.
